Yet all of these popularly followed indicators and more were the work of this one man and were first popularized in this single classic.

But this book merits more than mere admiration. For traders looking for carefully presented formulas, clear discussions of their logic, and helpful discussion of indicators' interpretation straight from the horse's mouth, this book is a great asset. I would acknowledge that for discretionary traders who do little if any backtesting or who pay no more than scant attention to indicators other than price, volume, and maybe some moving averages, this book probably won't hit your hot button.

But as a systems trader, I'm especially appreciative, since nowhere have I found a better or more authoritative discussion of ADX and ADXR, two especially potent indicators whose multi-stage calculations haven't been consistently represented in various secondary sources I've examined.

Finally, for traders who tend to enjoy tinkering with the development of their own novel indicators, Wilder's discussions of his conceptual starting points in developing each of his indicators will probably prove very stimulating. Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Hardcover Anyone that would ever give a negative rating for this classic of trading literature, doesn't have the slightest clue as to what they have just read. This is "THE" single most innovative trading text to hit the new bookshelves concepts the last 30 years.

This book single-handedly revolutionized the technical analysis of financial markets. I am almost speechless that someone could write a negative review of this book Hardcover You'd have trading appreciate that nearly every method or tool in this book is almost common knowledge.

RSI, ADX, DMI, Parabolic, volatility breakouts, pivot point reversals and so forth are all commonly used nowadays. However, back in when it was hand calculated and charted. Wilder probably had no idea how revolutionary his work has become.

This late 70's work is undoubtedly the mark systems for many systems used nowadays and the cornerstone for a group of specific class of "indicators" to say trading least. I came across trading work for trading first time many years ago in a private library of a brokerage systems I used to work, I studied thoroughly new in the day but I couldn't take it home with me so I decided that someday I would buy this book even though I've had read it already many concepts.

Then trading years later Technical bought it just to have it on my personal library and it's where one concepts seats today. This was the first system that I could understand, use and have a math proof to back it up, I'm not saying that what's in the book concepts be applied directly, what I'm saying is this book brings the concept of further developments.

Welles Wilder is a guy, among others, that I would really have the systems to meet someday and I truly hope to have the opportunity to do so. By James Kowalick - Published on Amazon. This trading trading-systems book is superb and new - it is for those who know, or want to know, the important details of trading systems admittedly, few traders have the goal of developing a deeper technical of the important, win-based details of trading systems.

His book is full of innovative and highly creative trading concepts for use in trading systems. Wilder added to these and at the same time expanded traders' possibilities through his brilliant thinking.

In this fully-illustrated book, Wilder begins with new basics, and then takes the reader behind the scenes to explain, in significant detail, the how-to and the why about trading systems, including his famous Parabolic New, the Volatility System, Directional Movement, Wilder's own Relative Strength Index, and other systems as well. Welles cautiously explains the technical limits of parameters that comprise each system. This book is for new traders who want assurance - through thoughtful understanding - that their trades will be winning trades.

Such traders do not rely on concepts experts who themselves might not even think of trading on a regular basisbut who are quite willing to take concepts money for their advice.

Winning, cream-of-the-crop traders want to understand their systems trading in order to avoid the pitfalls. The publication of this authoritative book was decades in the past, but the ideas new it still live on. What's happened since "New Concepts in Technical Trading Systems" trading published? Ironically, many of Wilder's trading concepts are partly or wholly in use today - there are few original thinkers in trading systems who have published newer and better trading indicators a notable exception to this are some of the Turtle Traders.

Trading systems that are decades old tend to erode in their effectiveness - when too many traders use the same indicator, the effectiveness of that indicator naturally decreases. A chief virtue of this trading-system book is technical it systems how Welles Wilder the author thinks.

Pity there are only 5 stars, concepts I would have rated it higher. Thank you, Welles Wilder. By Steve Burns - Published on Amazon. I am rating this book 5 stars because when it was first published it changed technical analysis forever.

Wells Wilder did for traders what Systems James did for baseball. Wilder gave traders a quantitative edge through research and the invention of new technical indicators that measured price movement and added a new dimension to price charts. One of the many indicators he came technical with was the Relative Strength Index or RSI which is one trading the most power tools I use to measure overbought systems oversold levels in indexes and sectors on the daily chart.

While systems we can pull up almost any charting package and get his indicators on our charts with only a few simple clicks this book contains the specific formulas for how to calculate these indicators.

Inside the book there are even worksheets showing how new worked out the math with his own formula to technical the indicator reading. It is amazing to think Wilder did this by hand in with no charting package, computer, systems even an excel spreadsheet to use. I got this book hoping to go to the source of my beloved RSI and get some insights from its creator.

While I systems not get much of a take away from this book on how to trade with new I did enjoy seeing its birth and the history lesson. Many others have taken up the reins and created systems and methodologies to use with all his indicators. This book was more of a explanation and showing how concepts calculation itself is done. So this is a great book for a history lesson or if you need to program a charting package but most modern traders will be very familiar with most the basics found here about the indicators themselves.

I have no regrets buying this book personally, I feel like I witnessed the birth of the RSI. Whilst written in the early technical the By Craig - Published on Amazon. Whilst written in the early 70's the indicators detailed within the book remain in extensive use by traders everywhere. By Erik Olson - Published on Amazon. Parabolic SAR, Relative Strength Index, Directional Movement Index ADX -- developing even just one of these would constitute an important contribution to technical analysis.
